Preset Visualizer Docs

Preset Visualizer turns Dante Controller preset XML files into browser-local visual reports for documentation, handoff, troubleshooting, and comparison workflows.

How to use Preset Visualizer

Generate a single preset report

  1. Open Preset Visualizer.
  2. Choose Use the Tools, then Generate Report.
  3. Drag a Dante Controller preset XML file onto the upload zone, or click the upload zone to choose a file.
  4. The report generates automatically after the XML file is selected.

Edit the report title

After a report is generated:

  1. Click the title text.
  2. Type the name you want to use.
  3. Click outside the title or press Enter.

Use Visual Flow selection

After a report is generated:

  1. Scroll to Visual Flow.
  2. Click a Transmit (TX)/source or Receive (RX)/destination card to focus that device. Ctrl-click on Windows/Linux or Cmd-click on Mac to select multiple cards.
  3. Related routes stay emphasized while unrelated routes dim.
  4. Related rows move toward the top where practical.
  5. Clear Selection appears when one or more cards are selected.
  6. Click Clear Selection to return to the full report view.

Create and use Visual Flow groups Pro only

After a Pro report is generated:

  1. Select one or more Visual Flow cards.
  2. Click Create Group.
  3. Enter a group name, such as Sanctuary, Broadcast, Conferenc RM1, etc. The new group activates immediately after it is created.
  4. Unrelated cards and routes are removed while the group is active.
  5. Use the group chip to return to that focused group later.
  6. Use the × on a group chip to delete a group.
  7. Choose Show all to return to the full visual.

Sort report tables

After a report or comparison is generated:

  1. Click a table heading once to sort that column A-Z or ascending.
  2. Click the same heading again to sort Z-A or descending.
  3. Click the same heading a third time to remove sorting and return to the original order.
  4. Click a different heading to sort by that column instead.
  5. Exported and printed reports preserve the sorted order currently shown on screen.

Zoom and pan Visual Flow

  1. Use + to zoom in.
  2. Use to zoom out.
  3. Use Reset Zoom to return to 100%.
  4. When the visual is larger than its frame, click and drag inside the visual frame to pan around.
  5. Horizontal scrolling should stay inside the Visual Flow frame, not on the whole page.

Export or print a full report

After a report is generated:

  1. Open Export / Print.
    • Choose Export full report to save an interactive HTML report.
    • Choose Print full report to open the browser print dialog.
  2. Use your browser print dialog to print or save as PDF.
  3. Exported and printed reports use a light report style, even when the app is in dark mode.

Export or print a selected view Pro only

After a Pro report is generated:

  1. Select one or more Visual Flow cards.
  2. Open Export / Print.
    • Choose Export selected view to save an interactive HTML report.
    • Choose Print selected view to open the browser print dialog.
  3. The output removes unrelated routes and rows where practical.

Export or print groups Pro only

After a Pro report is generated with groups saved:

  1. Select one or more Visual Flow cards.
  2. Open Export / Print.
    • Choose Export groups to save an interactive HTML report.
    • Choose Print groups to open the browser print dialog.
  3. The output removes unrelated routes and rows where practical.

Unlock Pro Beta

  1. Go to the beta access card on the landing page, Generate Report page, or Compare Presets page.
  2. Enter the approved Pro code.
  3. Choose Unlock Pro.
  4. The current browser switches to the Pro view.
  5. Use Back to Basic to return that browser to the Free view.

Note: Pro access may reset if you clear site data, use private/incognito mode, switch browsers, or switch devices.

Compare two presets Pro only

  1. Unlock Pro.
  2. Choose Use the Tools, then Compare Presets.
  3. Upload or drag in the baseline preset XML file.
  4. Upload or drag in the updated preset XML file.
  5. Review comparison metrics for added devices, removed devices, added routes, removed routes, changed routes, and subscription changes.
  6. Review Comparison Visual Flow for a change-only route diagram.
  7. Use Show all, Added, Removed, or Changed filters when those change types exist.
  8. Use comparison card selection, Ctrl/Cmd multi-select, and groups just like the standard Visual Flow.
  9. Use the comparison Export / Print menu to export or print the full or filtered comparison.

Report definitions

Report Metrics

Summary cards at the top of a generated report. They show counts for devices, routes, active subscriptions, and subscription status.

Devices

Dante devices found in the preset XML. Devices can appear as Transmit (TX)/source devices, Receive (RX)/destination devices, or both.

TX channels

Transmit (TX) channels made available by source devices in the preset.

RX channels

Receive (RX) channels on destination devices in the preset.

Active subscriptions

RX channels that are subscribed to a TX channel from another device.

Unsubscribed RX channels

RX channels present in the preset that do not currently have an active source subscription.

Device-to-device routes

Active subscriptions summarized between a source device and a destination device. Route counts are grouped by device pair.

Preferred clock source Pro only

The device identified in the preset as preferred for clocking when that information is present.

Visual Flow

The Sankey-style route diagram. Transmit (TX)/source devices appear on the left, Receive (RX)/destination devices appear on the right, and route lines show subscribed device-to-device audio paths.

Route Summary

The table view of device-to-device routes, including source devices, destination devices, and subscribed channel counts.

Clocking details Pro only

Clock-related device settings from the preset when available.

Audio format details Pro only

Audio-related settings from the preset when available, such as sample rate or encoding-related values exposed by the XML.

Device list Pro only

The deeper report section that summarizes devices and configuration details found in the preset.

Channel subscriptions Pro only

Channel-level TX-to-RX relationships. This is more detailed than Route Summary and is useful for commissioning review and troubleshooting.

Visual Flow groups Pro only

Named subsets of selected Visual Flow cards that hide unrelated cards and routes so a zone or subsystem can be reviewed on its own.

Comparison definitions — Pro only

Baseline preset

The original or earlier XML file used as the starting point for comparison.

Updated preset

The newer XML file compared against the baseline.

Devices added

Devices found in the updated preset that were not found in the baseline preset.

Devices removed

Devices found in the baseline preset that are no longer present in the updated preset.

Routes added

Device-to-device routes present in the updated preset that were not present in the baseline preset.

Routes removed

Device-to-device routes present in the baseline preset that are no longer present in the updated preset.

Changed routes

Routes that still exist between the same devices but have a changed subscribed channel count between the baseline and updated preset.

Subscription changes

Channel-level subscription differences between the baseline and updated preset.

Comparison Visual Flow

The change-focused visual route diagram for Compare Presets. It focuses on added routes, removed routes, and changed routes instead of showing the entire unchanged preset.

Troubleshooting

XML file does not load

Confirm that the file is a Dante Controller preset XML file. If the file came from another application or is not valid XML, the browser may not be able to parse it.

Report looks empty

The preset may not include active subscriptions or the XML may not include the expected Dante Controller preset structure. Check the metric cards first to see what the app detected.

Pro code does not stay unlocked

Pro access is stored locally in the browser. It may reset if you use private/incognito mode, clear site data, switch browsers, or switch devices.

Compare Presets is not available

Compare Presets is a Pro workflow. Unlock Pro first, then open Compare Presets from the Use the Tools menu.

This is expected. Reports print and export in a light report theme for readability, even when the app is in dark mode.

The page scrolls sideways

The page itself should not scroll horizontally. Wide Visual Flow content should scroll inside the visual frame only.
